Aondoakaa Predicts Incumbent Governor's Defeat in 2027

Michael Aondoakaa, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Benue State, has dismissed claims that the incumbent governor is assured victory in the upcoming 2027 governorship election. Speaking to journalists in Makurdi on Monday, Aondoakaa stated that the electorate would determine whether the sitting governor deserves another four-year term.

He rejected the notion that no sitting governor has ever lost a re-election bid in the state, asserting that the law grants a governor an initial four-year mandate, with the second term contingent on the voters' decision. Aondoakaa expressed confidence in his campaign, citing issues such as poor access to the current administration, insecurity, and uneven development across the state.

He noted that previous governors who secured second terms maintained closer relationships with the populace. Aondoakaa emphasized the importance of accessibility, stating that if the governor is not reachable, voters would be unlikely to support him again.
