Aondoakaa: Governor's Re-election Depends on Public Support

Aondoakaa, the governorship candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP), expressed his views on the re-election of the incumbent governor during a press conference in Makurdi, Benue. He stated that the law stipulates a governor is guaranteed an initial four-year term, while the decision for a second term rests with the electorate.

Aondoakaa dismissed the notion that no sitting governor has lost re-election in Benue, emphasizing that the people will determine if the current governor deserves another four years. He attributed his confidence in winning to the incumbent administration's poor accessibility, insecurity, and uneven development across the state.

Aondoakaa noted that previous governors who secured second terms maintained closer contact with the populace, stating, “People in Benue value access.” He argued that if the governor is not accessible to the people, it would be unlikely for them to vote for him again, regardless of any material offerings.
