APC's Basiru Defends FCT Polls Against ADC's Claims

Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), addressed claims made by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) regarding the recent FCT elections, asserting that they were not free and fair. Basiru made these comments during an interview on Tuesday, emphasizing that the ADC's assertions stem from their poor performance in the elections, where they lost significantly.

He noted that the APC had successfully mobilized and organized for the elections, which included 62 councilorship seats and six chairmanship seats, of which the APC won two bye-elections held in Rivers and Kano states. Basiru criticized the ADC for their inability to compete effectively, suggesting that their focus should not be on making excuses but rather on improving their political strategies.

He indicated that the ADC's claims are indicative of their failure to adapt to the political landscape, especially with the upcoming 2027 elections in mind.
