Governor Aliyu: His Own Opposition in Sokoto Politics

Information Commissioner Alhaji Sambo Bello Danchadi stated that Governor Ahmadu Aliyu acts as his own opposition by consistently scrutinizing his administration's performance. Danchadi emphasized that Aliyu's leadership style is characterized by a commitment to high standards and accountability, driven by a moral responsibility to the people of Sokoto State.

The governor's administration has prioritized impactful interventions, with 70% of the 2026 budget allocated to capital projects while maintaining a strict no-borrowing policy. The administration has also introduced a digital revenue system to ensure project funding is available before awards are made.

Danchadi noted that Aliyu's approach includes a nine-point smart agenda for midterm review, aiming to align policies with long-term development goals. The administration has achieved significant milestones, including the construction of 350 roads, recruitment of 800 nurses and midwives, and the implementation of a minimum wage.

Despite the absence of a strong opposition, Danchadi assured that Aliyu would campaign on a verified report card of achievements in the upcoming 2027 governorship elections.
