Aisha Yesufu Rejects NDC House of Reps Ticket for 2027

Aisha Yesufu, a human rights activist, declined a House of Representatives ticket offered to her by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections. In an interview on Symfoni TV, she explained that her decision was rooted in principles, stating that various political offers were made to her with specific conditions that she refused to accept.

Yesufu highlighted the importance of integrity, asserting that she would not compromise her values for political gain. She remarked, “I did not accept the House of Representatives ticket that was given to me because there were other people who were doing it on the issue of principle.” She also mentioned that many offers included conditions that would undermine the integrity of the political process, emphasizing that true leadership should not involve making promises that cannot be fulfilled.

The national leader of the NDC, Seriake Dickson, along with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had extended the offer to Yesufu, which she ultimately turned down.
