Aisha Yesufu Rejects NDC House Ticket for Integrity

Aisha Yesufu, a human rights activist, has publicly stated her reasons for rejecting a House of Representatives ticket offered to her by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections. In an interview on Symfoni TV, Yesufu emphasized that her decision was rooted in her commitment to integrity, asserting that she is not willing to compromise her principles for political power.

She explained that the acceptance of the ticket was contingent upon specific conditions that she found unacceptable. Yesufu remarked that seeking power should not be forced and that she does not intend to "sell Nigeria." She expressed her stance against making promises that cannot be fulfilled, stating, “We won’t make any promises that we will not fulfill.” Her comments reflect a broader concern about political integrity and the ethical responsibilities of those in leadership positions.
