Aisha Yesufu's Campaign Decision Sparks Political Debate

Bashir Ahmad, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reacted to Aisha Yesufu's announcement that she would not be accompanying Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), on his campaign tour for the 2027 elections. Yesufu stated she would still campaign with Obi when necessary but would not travel with him as much as in 2023.

Ahmad suggested that Yesufu's decision stems from her demoralisation after failing to secure the NDC ticket for the FCT Senate. He criticized Obi for not standing up for her during the ticket selection process, despite her loyalty to him.

Ahmad emphasized that in politics, loyalty should be reciprocal, contrasting Obi's actions with those of his deputy, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, who ensured his son secured a deputy governorship ticket in Kano.
