Peter Obi Discusses Potential 2031 Presidential Run

Peter Obi, a prominent figure in the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and former governor, stated that he may not run for president in 2031. In an interview with media personality Rufai Oseni, Obi discussed the implications of power rotation in Nigeria, emphasizing that the decision to run again would depend on the results of the 2027 presidential elections.

He noted that he would be 78 years old by the time of the 2031 elections, which he believes makes a presidential bid unrealistic. Obi mentioned the importance of respecting the power rotation formula, which suggests a shift back to the northern region after the 2027 elections.

He described the chances of a presidential bid in 2031 as slim, contingent on the political landscape following the 2027 elections, but acknowledged that a return to the presidency remains a possibility.
