Napoli's De Laurentiis Explains Osimhen's PSG Transfer Denial

Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, clarified the club's decision not to sell Victor Osimhen and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for €200 million last year. He emphasized that selling both players would have weakened Napoli, which was not a desirable outcome.

Mauro Meluso, the former sports director of Napoli, noted that the intention was to keep Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia together, as they were integral to the team's success. De Laurentiis reflected that, in hindsight, selling the players would have sent a terrible signal regarding the club's ambition to win.

Luciano Spalletti, the coach, and Cristiano Giuntoli, the sports director, also supported the decision, indicating that it was in the best interest of Napoli to retain their key players rather than allow them to leave for another club.
