Police Summon Osun Senator Over Election Threat Comment

On Wednesday, Samuel Etaifo, the Commissioner of Police overseeing the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, explained the invitation extended to Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents the Osun East Senatorial District. This invitation followed a controversial statement attributed to Fadahunsi, where he allegedly threatened that any member of the Accord Party seen in Ilesa before the Saturday election should be killed.

Etaifo condemned such remarks, stating that political leaders must promote peace and avoid comments that could incite violence or undermine public confidence in the electoral process. He clarified that the invitation was not an act of intimidation but a proactive measure to prevent escalation and ensure a peaceful election.

The police urged all political actors and the public to remain law-abiding and avoid inflammatory rhetoric. The Osun State Police Command confirmed the summoning of Fadahunsi, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress, amid growing tensions ahead of the election.
