Wike Denies Lobbying for APC Campaign DG Position

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has refuted claims that he is seeking the position of Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in preparation for the 2027 general elections. In a statement released on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike described the reports as false and clarified that he had not engaged in discussions regarding the campaign council's leadership or membership.

Currently outside Nigeria, Wike has been involved in project commissioning and inspections in the Federal Capital Territory for over 30 days. He emphasized that upon his return, his focus would remain on fulfilling his mandate and supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, asserting that he does not need a formal position within the campaign council to contribute to Tinubu’s electoral success in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory.
