Wike Suspends FCTA Director Over Unauthorized Approvals

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, announced the suspension of a director within the Federal Capital Territory Administration for issuing unauthorized ‘temporary approvals’ to commercial operators in designated green zones. This action was taken under civil service rules.

During a media parley on Wednesday, Wike stated that his administration is intensifying enforcement against violations related to recent flooding along the Airport Road and Lokogoma District. He mentioned that another official faced disciplinary action for illegally reallocating park lands under the pretext of security clearance.

Wike revealed that a high-level task force, led by the executive secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority and the director of Development Control, has been dispatched to assess communities affected by flooding, including Lugbe and Lokogoma. He noted the distinction between man-made and natural flooding issues, indicating that while man-made problems can be addressed, natural disasters require investigation.
