Wike to lead Tinubu's 2027 reelection push in FCT and Rivers

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has committed to heading campaign operations for President Bola Tinubu's reelection across the FCT and Rivers State. The announcement came Friday during an inspection of ongoing road construction in the Gwagwalada area of Abuja, signalling the administration's push toward organizing grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike characterized the political coalition backing Tinubu's second term as fully prepared and well-positioned for the electoral cycle. He noted that supporters have responded positively to the administration's message across both jurisdictions, suggesting momentum exists within the ruling APC and allied parties for the campaign machinery he intends to establish.

The minister linked infrastructure development in Abuja directly to the administration's electoral fortunes. During the road project inspection—a dual carriageway connecting Kuje and Gwagwalada areas—Wike argued that completed and ongoing developments would improve connectivity and living standards for residents in densely populated communities.

He expressed confidence that these tangible projects would translate into voter support for Tinubu in the coming elections. The Kuje-Gwagwalada road project, being executed by Gilmo Engineering, represents the type of visible infrastructure work Wike highlighted.
