Imo Lawyers Urge Tinubu to Resolve Wike-Uzodinma Dispute

Lawyers from Imo State, under the organization Imo Lawyers for the Defence of Democracy, have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing public exchanges between Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo State. They urged Wike to cease personal attacks against Uzodinma and advised the Governor to avoid engaging further in public disputes.

This appeal was made during a press conference in Abuja, where the lawyers expressed concern over the increasingly personal nature of the conflict. The disagreement reportedly arose after the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum rejected Wike's proposed "Rainbow Coalition." The lawyers emphasized the importance of addressing political disagreements through democratic engagement and warned against turning Imo State into a battleground for political supremacy.

They reiterated that political discourse should focus on policies and facts rather than personal exchanges.
