Imo Lawyers Urge Wike to End Personal Attacks on Uzodinma

A coalition of Imo lawyers, operating under the name Imo Lawyers for the Defence of Democracy, has called on Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to stop personal attacks against Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma. In a statement released by secretary Ifeoma Chukwunyere, the group expressed concern that the ongoing political exchanges could destabilize Imo State.

They asserted that the citizens of Imo have the constitutional right to choose their leaders without external interference. The lawyers urged Wike to focus on policy discussions rather than personal grievances, stating that democracy and the rule of law must prevail.

They pledged to defend Uzodinma’s mandate and the rights of Imo people, regardless of political affiliation. The group also called on President Bola Tinubu to promote restraint among political figures.

Chukwunyere emphasized that Wike's criticisms had become too personal and urged him to respect the political autonomy of Imo State.
