Wike's PDP Faction Backs Anyanwu, Mohammed for Leadership

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Nyesom Wike has called on former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom to drop his political ambitions and is supporting Samuel Anyanwu and Abdulrahman Mohammed for the positions of national chairman and national secretary, respectively. This decision comes as the party prepares for its national convention scheduled for March 29-30.

Despite resistance, Anyanwu has reportedly emerged as the consensus candidate for national secretary, while Mohammed is backed for national chairman. Sources indicate that a meeting among zonal leaders led to this consensus arrangement, aimed at ensuring a smooth convention process.

The North West zone has agreed to maintain existing arrangements, while the South East is expected to retain the national secretary position. Wike has appealed to Ortom and former Kogi State Deputy Governor Philip Salawu to reconsider their ambitions, emphasizing the need for unity within the party.
