PDP Candidate Calls Otu an Absentee Governor in Cross River

Arthur Jarvis Archibong, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, has labeled Governor Bassey Otu as an "absentee governor," claiming he spends less than ten days in the state while spending over 20 days abroad or in Abuja. Archibong first made this assertion two weeks ago during a news conference, expressing concern over the negative impact of Otu's absence on governance, which he claims is left to aides who make critical decisions, including the detention of social media critics.

In response, Commissioner for Information Ekpenyong Cobham dismissed Archibong's claims, arguing that modern technology allows the governor to function effectively from anywhere. Archibong reiterated his concerns in a recent interview, citing instances such as landslides and fires where Otu was absent.

He questioned the outcomes of Otu's travels for signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), demanding to see tangible results like factories and jobs for the people of Cross River State.
