NYSC and Women Affairs Ministry Partner for Empowerment

The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has established a strategic partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to enhance collaboration on women empowerment, youth development, gender equality, healthcare delivery, skills acquisition, and community-based social interventions across Nigeria. This partnership was reaffirmed on Friday during a courtesy visit by Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, the Director-General of NYSC, to Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

The Minister emphasized the Ministry's broad mandate, which includes strengthening families and protecting vulnerable members of society. She praised the NYSC for its contributions to nation-building and highlighted recent statistics indicating that Nigerian tertiary institutions have produced more female than male graduates since 2021, marking significant progress in gender equality.

The Ministry is also reviewing national workplace policies to create family-friendly environments and promoting economic empowerment through various mobile enterprise models aimed at women and youth.
