Women Affairs Ministry Enhances Social Development in Nigeria

The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, represented by Permanent Secretary Chukwu Ifunanya Salom, is partnering with various stakeholders to enhance social development in Nigeria. A workshop was conducted to equip federal and state ministry officials with the technical knowledge required to review existing policies and assess achievements.

The workshop is part of preparations for the 26th National Council on Women Affairs, which aims to promote sustainable livelihoods and empower vulnerable groups, particularly women and children. The ministry's mandate is to bridge the gender gap and ensure equal access to education and social services for every Nigerian girl.

Hadiza Idri Kuta, from the Niger State Commission for Women Affairs, emphasized the importance of collaboration with the federal ministry to strengthen social development policies. The Niger State government, led by Governor Umar Moham Bago, has prioritized women's inclusion, appointing 130 women to political positions, including 25 female vice chairpersons across local government councils.
