Women Affairs Ministry and NYSC Strengthen Partnership

The Ministry of Women Affairs, led by Minister Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has announced a renewed collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), represented by Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, during a meeting in Abuja. Sulaiman-Ibrahim emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration among government institutions for sustainable development, highlighting the ministry's role in serving families, women, children, and vulnerable groups.

She noted that female graduates have outnumbered males in Nigerian tertiary institutions since 2021, which supports gender equality policies. Plans include introducing family-friendly workplace policies, expanding women’s economic empowerment programs, and partnering with NYSC on healthcare outreach, entrepreneurship training, and campaigns against gender-based violence.

Brigadier General Nafiu praised the ministry's efforts in girl-child education and gender inclusion, reaffirming NYSC's commitment to support through various initiatives. Both organizations agreed to appoint focal officers to develop an implementation framework for expanding healthcare, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and social protection initiatives nationwide.
