Ondo Women Leaders Advocate for Gender Inclusion in Governance

Women leaders in Ondo State urged for sustained gender inclusion in governance at a leadership empowerment retreat organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development at Nibanola Motherland Resorts and Golf in Ondo town, Ondo West Local Government Area. They called for the government to continue appointing women to strategic positions through deliberate policies to enhance their participation in decision-making and public administration.

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Oluwaseun Osamaye, stated that the event aimed to strengthen women's leadership capacity and their contributions to governance. She noted that Ondo State currently has 16 female permanent secretaries, the highest number recorded under any administration.

Osamaye also mentioned various programs implemented by the ministry to address the diverse needs of women. Professor Bridget Itunu Awoshika from Adeyemi Federal University of Education assessed the Aiyedatiwa administration's EASE Agenda, scoring it 18 out of 20 based on developments in various sectors, including women's participation in governance.
