Umahi Addresses Controversial Death of Nurse Mari Habila

David Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi State, spoke about the controversial death of Mari Habila, a nurse at the Federal University of Health Sciences, which occurred at his residence. The family of the deceased claims that there are attempts to politicize the incident.

Mari Habila had been receiving medical treatment for an existing health condition in a Turkish hospital, where her medical bills were reportedly paid. On the day of her death, she had communicated with her boyfriend, expressing concerns about bleeding from her nose.

After failing to respond to his calls, her boyfriend became worried. Umahi emphasized the need for an autopsy, which the family is hesitant to allow due to cultural beliefs.

He stated that the police have been instructed to transfer the case to Abuja, urging the family to permit the autopsy to clarify the circumstances surrounding her death. The family believes that political motives may be involved in the handling of the case.
