Umahi Calls for Autopsy in Physiotherapist's Death Case

David Umahi, the Minister of Health, renewed calls for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death of physiotherapist Mari Habilla, who worked at the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area, Ebonyi State. This statement was issued on a Saturday by Franci Nwaze, the Senior Special Assistant on Media.

Umahi expressed shock and sadness over the incident and extended condolences to Habilla's family. He explained that emergency procedures were activated immediately following the incident, with medical personnel, including the Chief Medical Director, involved.

The Nigeria Police were notified as per legal requirements. Umahi met with Habilla's parents to express sympathy and advised that an autopsy be conducted to scientifically determine the cause of death.

However, the family declined this recommendation at the time. Umahi reiterated the need for an autopsy to maintain credibility and resolve issues surrounding the death, appealing to the public to refrain from speculation and allow relevant authorities to conduct their investigation without interference.
