Police Seek Autopsy for Nurse Found Dead at Umahi's Home

The Ebonyi State Police Command is investigating the death of 26-year-old nurse Miss Mari Habila, who was found dead at the country home of Minister of Works Engr. David Umahi in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area.

The police received a distress call on June 27, 2026, and upon arrival at the Federal Teaching Hospital Uburu, they were informed that Miss Habila had been brought in dead. The police spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, stated that preliminary findings indicated that Miss Habila was part of a medical team accompanying Engr.

David Umahi. The police have requested an autopsy to determine the cause of death, but the family has declined this request, insisting that an examination should not be carried out.

Despite the family's position, the police maintain that an autopsy is necessary due to the sensitive nature of the case. They await the appointment of a family representative to facilitate the post-mortem examination.
