Workers Threaten Nationwide Strike Over Wages and Insecurity

The Federal Worker Forum (FWF) has announced plans for an indefinite nationwide strike in response to unresolved wage issues and escalating insecurity in Nigeria. In a communiqué issued following an online meeting on Sunday, the forum criticized the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress for not providing adequate leadership.

The forum's national coordinator, Mr. Emeliez, and secretary, Mr.

Ayo Ogundel, stated that an overwhelming majority of their members support immediate strike action to address the current hardships. They highlighted that the proposed minimum wage of N100,000 by the Nigerian Governors Forum is insufficient and described it as a conspiracy against workers.

The FWF also condemned recent kidnappings in Oyo and Borno states, particularly involving children and teachers. They urged the leadership of the NLC and TUC to engage with the government for a swift resolution to the ongoing crises and called for negotiations to secure the release of hostages.
