Dalton Smith to Defend WBC Title Against Puello in Sheffield

Dalton Smith, the current WBC light welterweight champion, is set to defend his title against two-time former world champion Alberto Puello on June 6 at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield. This match marks Smith's first title defense in front of his home fans.

Smith, who remains unbeaten with a record of 29 wins, previously secured the world title with a stunning fifth-round stoppage victory over Subriel Matias in Brooklyn, New York, in January. This upcoming bout is Smith's mandatory defense, and he is expected to face a world-class opponent in Puello, who is known for his awkward southpaw style.

Puello, aged 31, held the WBA title from 2022 to 2023 and the WBC title from 2024 to 2025, with a professional record of 24 wins, his only defeat occurring when he lost his belt to Matias in July.
