Xi Jinping Launches Campaign to Improve Governance Standards

Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, has initiated a campaign aimed at recalibrating local officials' understanding of governance achievement. He stressed the importance of ensuring that even basic necessities, such as light bulbs and soap, are accessible to people in remote areas of Fujian Province.

Xi's remarks highlight the need for officials to prioritize the long-term welfare of the populace over short-term economic gains and visible projects that may not yield substantial benefits. The campaign, which will run until July, aims to correct misguided views of governance that lead to vanity projects and hidden risks.

Xi condemned the reckless use of public funds for superficial improvements, such as painting rural areas, which do not address the real needs of the people. He cited the story of Jiao Yulu, a humble party chief who worked tirelessly to combat food shortages in Lankao, as a model of dedication to genuine governance.
