YABATECH Student Sultan Balogun Shot Dead in Lagos

On March 3, 2026, Sultan Balogun Owolabi, a student at Yaba College of Technology, was shot dead near the institution's premises at approximately 4 PM, close to the WAEC Bus Stop in Ebut Metta, Lagos. Eyewitnesses reported that three young men approached Balogun and shot him at close range before fleeing the scene, leaving him dead.

The incident has sparked panic in the area, with passersby and traders fleeing due to fears of further violence. Initial reports suggest that the assailants may be affiliated with cult groups, with some alleging involvement of military personnel in the attack.

The Nigerian military has been called to investigate these claims.
