YEDI Empowers 150 Youths with Digital and Textile Skills

The Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative (YEDI) has successfully empowered approximately 150 youths with digital and textile making skills through an eight-day summer camp held in Lagos. Olasode Abiola, the Programme Manager of YEDI, stated that this annual event is designed to assist participants in making informed career decisions.

The training included coding and Adire textile design, equipping the youths with skills for independent decision-making. Monica Affia, the Founder of Mo Glam Concepts, highlighted their involvement in facilitating Adire making as part of a corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of more youths.

Among the participants, 13-year-old Ojoye Samuel Akorede expressed gratitude for the teamwork experience gained, which he believes is essential for his aspiration to become a surgeon. He also called for increased involvement from corporate organizations in rural development efforts.
