Nigerian Government Launches Vocational Training for Oyo Youths

The Nigerian Government, through the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS) and the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (OSSAP-TVEE), is launching a vocational empowerment program targeting 200 youths in Oyo State from September 28 to October 9, 2026. This initiative will be replicated across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones to enhance access to vocational training and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Participants will be trained in three areas: Graphics and Artificial Intelligence, Makeup, and Fashion Designing. Each beneficiary will receive a complete training kit, including laptops for Graphics and AI trainees, fully equipped makeup kits for Makeup trainees, and sewing machines for Fashion Designing participants.

The program will conclude with a graduation ceremony on October 9, 2026, where 500 tablets will also be distributed to young Nigerians as part of a broader digital empowerment effort. Dr Abiola Arogundade, the Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education, stated that this initiative reflects the government's commitment to equipping youths with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.
