Yobe State Enrols Retirees in Health Insurance Scheme

The Yobe State Government has approved the enrolment of retirees into its health insurance scheme, as disclosed by Dr. Babagana Tijjani, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, in a statement released on Tuesday in Damaturu. This initiative, endorsed by Governor Mai Mala Buni, aims to reduce the financial burden of healthcare costs on retirees and enhance their access to comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services.

The approved scheme underscores the state government's commitment to improving the welfare of retirees, ensuring that senior citizens can enjoy quality healthcare without suffering financial hardship. The initiative aligns with the administration's healthcare reform agenda and the goal of achieving universal health coverage (UHC) by 2030.

Dr. Tijjani commended the governor for this significant step, which will expand healthcare access and strengthen social protection for retirees. The Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency was established under Yobe State Law No. 7 of 2019 to implement the state's contributory healthcare scheme.
