Osinbajo Shares Life-Changing Moment That Ended His Drinking

Yemi Osinbajo, the former Vice President of Nigeria, shared a significant personal experience that prompted him to cease alcohol consumption. This turning point occurred during a United Nations mission in Mogadishu, Somalia.

While at a restaurant within the UN camp, he noticed several colleagues from different countries drinking alcohol. When he approached a colleague from Denmark, he inquired why they were hiding their drinks.

The colleague explained that they did not drink openly around Osinbajo, who they recognized as a priest. This response deeply impressed Osinbajo, leading him to reflect on his role and the expectations others had of him.

He concluded that while drinking may be permissible, it was not always the right thing to do. This encounter ultimately influenced his decision to stop drinking alcohol altogether.
