Ndume Applauds Tinubu for ₦68 Billion Power Plant Approval

Former Senate Leader Ali Ndume commended President Bola Tinubu for the approval of ₦68 billion for operational support for the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant (MEPP) in Borno State. In a statement on Tuesday, Ndume highlighted that this initiative would help alleviate prolonged power outages and significantly reduce insecurity in the region.

He noted that the federal government's actions have successfully disrupted the supply chains that enable terrorist recruitment and operations. Ndume emphasized that restoring electricity would enhance the economic life of the people, particularly benefiting the informal sector.

He also pointed out that stable power would support military efforts against insurgents, who thrive in environments lacking visibility, especially at night. Furthermore, Ndume urged relevant federal and state agencies, as well as military and civilian stakeholders, to ensure that power infrastructure is protected from destruction by insurgents and other nefarious activities.
