Obi Challenges Umahi's Debate Invitation on Presidency

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and a member of the Obidi Movement, addressed Dave Umahi's challenge for a debate during a recent interview with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo. Obi asserted that Umahi, the Minister of Works, must first become a presidential candidate before any debate can occur.

He criticized the current state of Nigerian roads, stating that the debate on infrastructure is already settled due to ongoing repairs. Obi likened the situation to a football team that cannot challenge others without qualifying for the World Cup.

He emphasized that presidential debates typically involve leading candidates, and Umahi's challenge lacks merit as he is not yet a presidential candidate. Obi also dismissed Umahi's claims that he is not a political threat, asserting that the Tinubu administration inherited significant economic challenges that require time to address.
