Umahi Challenges Obi to Debate on Road Infrastructure

On Wednesday, David Umahi, the Minister of Works, publicly challenged Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and a member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, to an open debate. This challenge arose during the inauguration of the Akwanga-Jos super highway, where Umahi criticized Obi's recent remarks about the poor condition of federal roads.

Umahi expressed disappointment that Obi, as a former governor, did not understand the responsibilities of state governors in managing infrastructure. He stated that the federal government cannot be solely blamed for road conditions, emphasizing that governors must also take responsibility for infrastructure maintenance.

Umahi reinforced the commitment of President Bola Tinubu's administration to improve road infrastructure through innovative solutions and the adoption of concrete road technology. He asserted that the performance of governors should be scrutinized, as they play a crucial role in the management and upkeep of roads.
