Young Nigerians Innovate for Safer Transport Solutions

SystemSpecs concluded its 2026 Children’s Day Essay Competition, aimed at engaging young Nigerians in proposing technology-based solutions for local transportation challenges. The contest, which opened in February, received 20,000 entries from across Nigeria, marking a 36.5% increase in female participation over three years.

Bukola Adeboy, head of corporate services at SystemSpecs, emphasized the importance of understanding the ideas behind the submissions. The top finalists included Abiodun Ayomid from Oshodi Comprehensive Senior High School in Lagos, who won the senior category, and Sanu Anjolaoluwa from Kesb International School in Lagos, who won the junior category.

Winners received cash prizes, laptops, and educational resources, with the senior category winner receiving ₦1 million. The competition reflects the ability of young Nigerians to contribute to national development and highlights concerns regarding children's safety.
