Imo State Launches Nigeria/Japan Youth Game Contest

The Imo State Government has unveiled the Nigeria/Japan Youth Game Creator Contest during a press briefing at the ICT Hub in Owerri. The initiative, led by Dr.
Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu, aims to empower young Nigerian game developers and promote creativity and entrepreneurship. The contest is organized in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Narcotics and Illicit Drug Monitoring, headed by Chief Ezechukwu Nnamdi Obonna, and Gigb Inc from Tokyo, Japan.
It seeks to encourage digital innovation and a drug-free lifestyle among youth. Participants must be at least 18 years old and can submit original, unpublished projects for mobile, PC, or browser-based games.
Registration is open until August 31, 2026, with public voting from September 1 to September 10, 2026. Winners will be announced on September 30, 2026, with the overall winner receiving ₦500,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive ₦300,000 and ₦200,000, respectively.
