NYC Urges Tinubu to Resolve Kwara APC Primary Dispute

The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing dispute regarding the APC governorship primary in Kwara State. During a press conference, NYC President Engr. Jethro Annum expressed concerns that the controversy surrounding the primary could damage young Nigerians' confidence in democratic participation.

Annum highlighted the importance of loyalty, merit, and inclusivity in politics, stressing that the issue extends beyond Kwara and reflects broader implications for youth engagement in Nigerian politics. The group pointed out that Governor Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari, who has been described as a model for youth engagement, has received public endorsements, which could lead to consensus among several aspirants.

However, questions arose regarding the conduct of the primary, which was suspended and rescheduled, with the NYC emphasizing the need for a transparent process. The organization urged the APC leadership to pursue reconciliation and avoid inflammatory rhetoric to maintain party cohesion and legitimacy.
