Cross River State Enhances Youth Skills and Internships

Cross River State will leverage the 32nd United Nations International Youth Day celebration to promote initiatives focused on improving young people's access to skills development, paid internships, and participation in governance. Ijom Ukam, the Commissioner for Youth Development, announced these initiatives during a briefing in Calabar.

He stated that the programs align with the administration's agenda and reflect the aspirations of youth for employment and skills acquisition. The Governor Bassey Otu administration is implementing a key intervention program designed to equip young people with practical skills.

Ukam mentioned that the state is collaborating with partners, including the United Nations Nigerian Jubilee Fellowship Programme, to provide structured internship opportunities. The celebration will offer a platform for youth to showcase their talents and contributions to community development.

Ukam urged stakeholders, including the private sector and civil society, to invest in youth-focused programs and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in building the future of Cross River.
