Youths Vandalize APC Office Amid Security Protests in Sokoto

On September 15, 2023, angry youths in Tambuwal Local Government Area, Sokoto State, vandalized the All Progressives Congress (APC) office during a protest against escalating insecurity, repeated bandit attacks, and economic hardship. The protest, which occurred last Friday, disrupted commercial activities and reflected residents' frustrations over government inaction regarding safety and living conditions.

Eyewitness Suntai reported that demonstrators blocked major roads and chanted for urgent government action. Resident Aminu Bashir expressed concerns over daily bandit attacks and kidnappings.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmed Rufai, confirmed that while the APC office was vandalized, it was not set ablaze. He noted that police were deployed to monitor the situation.

Community leaders urged the government to enhance security measures and called for peaceful dialogue, warning against further destruction of property. The Sokoto State Security Adviser, Col. Ahmed Usman (rtd), has advocated for a coordinated approach to address insecurity in the North West.
