Zamfara State Graduates First National Health Fellows

Zamfara State has successfully graduated its first cohort of National Health Fellows (NHF), marking a significant milestone in the state's efforts to enhance primary healthcare delivery. The graduation ceremony took place in Gusau, with Dr.

Nafisa Muhammad Maradun representing the Permanent Secretary, Rilwanu Musa Zurmi. The NHF program is a flagship initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria, designed to recruit, train, and deploy young health professionals across the 774 local government areas to strengthen primary healthcare and improve policy implementation.

Dr. Abdullahi Wanzamai explained that the program aims to bridge the human resource gap in the health sector.

Dr. Hussaini Yakubu Anka, Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Primary Health Care Board, and Dr.

Marafa from the Zamfara State Health Service Management Board, emphasized the importance of the NHF in improving data reporting and service delivery. Hon.

Samaila Moriki, Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, pledged local government support for the NHF initiative to achieve universal health coverage.
