Zamfara State Launches Fertilizer Distribution for Farmers

On Friday, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State inaugurated the 2026 wet season fertilizer distribution program at the Trade Fair Complex in Gusau. The state government is distributing 72,000 bags of fertilizer, 200,000 liters of herbicide, and various agricultural equipment, including 100 grass choppers and 100 feed mill machines.

This initiative aims to enhance food production and strengthen food security in Zamfara, a key agricultural state in Nigeria. Lawal emphasized the importance of agriculture as a primary source of livelihood and its critical role in reducing poverty and unemployment.

The program will distribute agricultural inputs across 147 political wards in the state's 14 local government areas, with each ward receiving 340 bags of fertilizer. The governor's administration aims to transform agriculture into a technology-driven, market-oriented sector, improve access to farm inputs, and promote mechanization to attract youth to the agricultural sector.
