Zulum Congratulates Hadiza Mohammed-Aliyu as NAN Editor

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State congratulated Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed-Aliyu on her appointment as the first female Editor-in-Chief of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). This announcement was made in a statement by Zulum's Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Dauda Iliya, on Friday in Maiduguri.

Zulum described Mohammed-Aliyu as a “disciplined, committed, and highly experienced career editor” with 34 years of service at NAN. He stated that her appointment represents a significant milestone for both the agency and the journalism profession in Nigeria.

Zulum expressed excitement over her elevation to lead an editorial team of over 500 editors and reporters across the agency's offices nationwide. He urged her to maintain the high editorial standards that have established NAN as a credible news source and to strengthen the agency's role in combating misinformation, especially as the country approaches the campaign period.

Mohammed-Aliyu, a graduate of Mass Communication from the University of Maiduguri, is the first woman to head NAN’s editorial team since the agency's establishment over four decades ago.
