House of Representatives Collaborates with Executive on Bills

Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, announced that the 10th National Assembly is working in synergy with the executive to advance legislation that positively impacts Nigerians. He emphasized that the House has initiated several people-oriented bills, including the proposed establishment of state police, which has been under consideration prior to the executive's introduction of a similar bill.

Agbese clarified that this collaboration should not be seen as the parliament being a rubber stamp but as an opportunity to create a comprehensive proposal before it is sent to state Houses of Assembly. He also reported that resolutions from sectoral debates with security chiefs are yielding positive results in combating insecurity, citing successful rescue operations in Oyo and Kwara States.

Agbese praised Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff, for effective security management and commended the Federal Government for enhancing military personnel welfare through salary increases and barrack renovations.
