13 Suspected Kidnappers Face Trial in Osun State

The Osun State Police Command announced the prosecution of 13 suspects arrested for alleged kidnapping, cultism, and related offenses. Police Commissioner Ibrahim Gotan disclosed during a press briefing that the arrests were made during separate operations across the state, including the rescue of 50-year-old Fulani herdsman Haruna Yusuf, who was abducted on July 9.

The police recovered N2,217,800 believed to be ransom money during these operations. The command's violent crime response unit monitored ransom payments and engaged in a gun duel with the kidnappers, resulting in injuries to some suspects.

Additionally, three suspects were arrested in connection with a foiled kidnapping attempt on Yahaya Sulaimon in Ijebu Jesa. The police also apprehended eight suspects involved in cultism and recovered various illegal items.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling violent crimes, including kidnapping and cultism, across Osun State.
