167 Senior Police Officers Face Disciplinary Review in Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has commenced proceedings involving 167 senior police officers who are facing review by the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) due to alleged breaches of professional conduct. DCP Anthony Placid announced this development in a press statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

The ongoing exercise at the force headquarters is part of a broader effort to strengthen internal accountability and enforce discipline within the NPF. DCP Placid described the FDC as an internal mechanism responsible for reviewing and determining cases involving officers ranked Assistant Superintendent of Police and above.

The process is designed to ensure a thorough, transparent, and fair examination of cases in line with existing laws and regulations, with appropriate recommendations to the Police Service Commission. IGP Olatunji Disu reaffirmed the NPF's commitment to maintaining disciplinary integrity and emphasized that no officer found culpable of misconduct will be shielded from due process.

This disciplinary proceeding is part of a larger institutional reform aimed at promoting ethical conduct and enhancing public confidence in the police force.
