18 Sokoto Residents Die in Kebbi Bus Collision
On Monday night around 11 PM, a tragic accident occurred in Kebbi, resulting in the deaths of 18 Sokoto residents returning from Lagos. The victims were traveling in an 18-seater commercial bus that collided head-on with a trailer.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was completely wrecked upon arrival at the scene, and the bodies were taken to General Hospital Yauri for identification. Bello Muhammad, a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and a close friend of the deceased driver, confirmed the incident.
The victims hailed from various communities in Sokoto State, including Kajiji Ward and Bingaj Gudirriga Village. The bodies were buried in Kajiji according to Islamic rites.
Two survivors sustained minor injuries. The driver, Manniru Sabo, and another victim, Basiru Shehu, were identified among the deceased.
The community expressed overwhelming grief over the tragic loss.
