Seven Dead, Three Injured in Kogi Highway Crash

On Saturday, a tragic highway crash in Kogi State resulted in the deaths of seven individuals and injuries to three others. The incident occurred along the Oken Osara-Lokoja highway when a commercial Siena bus reportedly collided with a stationary heavy-duty truck that was undergoing repairs.

Lawal Fagg, from the Kogi State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the details to journalists in Lokoja. The bus was traveling from Auchi in Edo State to Abuja, carrying passengers to various destinations, including Abaji in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The crash was attributed to factors such as excessive speed, driver fatigue, and a burst tire. The deceased were taken to the morgue, while the injured victims were rescued by FRSC personnel and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The FRSC has urged motorists to avoid excessive speed, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, and exercise caution around stationary vehicles to prevent such accidents.
