Six Sokoto Youths Die in Tragic Sallah Accident

Six youths from Sokoto tragically lost their lives in a vehicular accident while returning home for Sallah. The incident occurred when a commercial vehicle, carrying 18 passengers, was involved in a crash near Talata Mafara.

The chairman of Rabah Local Government, Malam Abubakar Chibau, contacted his counterpart in Talata Mafara to facilitate the evacuation of the victims. Injured passengers were taken to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The deceased were transported back to Rabah late Monday night, with funeral prayers held on Tuesday morning attended by hundreds of sympathizers. Malam Basiru, a father who lost his son Jamilu, a fish trader from Kano, recounted his last conversation with his son, who had called around 10 AM to inform the family he would arrive in Sokoto by 2 PM.

Basiru described Jamilu as a hardworking man and a provider for his family. Another victim, Muhammad Ameen, left behind a wife and seven children.

Families of the deceased are appealing for assistance from local and state governments.
