FG Advocates Multi-Modal Transport Integration in Nigeria

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming Nigeria’s transport sector by advocating for the seamless integration of road, rail, air, and water transportation. This initiative aims to reduce the country's dependence on road transport and attract private-sector investment.

The central message was delivered at the 19th National Council on Transportation (NCT) at the National Judicial Institute in Abuja, themed “Developing an Effective Transport System for Nigeria: The Role of Integrated Transportation.” Engr. Funso Adebiyi, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation and Chairman of the Technical Committee, highlighted the importance of integrating various transport modes to lower logistics costs and minimize transit times. He announced the unveiling of the National Land Transport Policy, approved by the Federal Executive Council, which aims to regulate the land transport sector and boost investor confidence.

Adebiyi also called for a shift in transportation financing to attract private-sector capital and urged states to develop clear transport master plans.
